Review (Roast?) my budget

full image - Repost: Review (Roast?) my budget (from Reddit.com, Review (Roast?) my budget)
I've been casually lurking this sub for months, learning from the various builds and LabPorn posts, and this past month I've gone from casual to serious and have begun planning a real build and budget for myself. For some background - I currently run an UnRaid Monolith. Its a single machine that is basically a juiced up gaming rig with lots of hard-drives and PCI cards. It handles my VMs, services, and storage, however, after a few years of use it has reached a limit.Alas, I've got the 10gbe itch and want a bigger, better, build, so here's what I've got so far:DeviceProductPriceRouterFirewall Router Server$375NASDell r730xd$1375SwitchMikrotik CSS326$140UPSTripp Lite SMX1000RT2U$300RackStarTech 8U (placeholder)$300Micro PCParts from Newegg$200DesktopParts from Newegg$650+10% (tax + shipping)Total~$3700Router1U Firewall Router Server 6x 10GBE E3-1270 v3 16GB X10SLH-LN6TF X10SLH-N6-ST031Inspired by this guide, but with opnSense instead: https://ift.tt/pSZDndq seems a decent price and a nice way to get some extra 10gbe ports without having to opt for an additional, or more expensive, switch. My only concern is how much power it will use as an always on device.NASdell r730xdThis will run baremetal truenas core and use 12 x 2Tb drives from my current build. I plan to configure RaidZ2 (2 vdevs + 2 spare - hopefully I got that right).I posted a discussion thread recently and received a lot of helpful feedback leading me to the dell 7xx series, but I'm still not 100% settled on the 730. I could cut the NAS expense in half, and bring down the total budget by 20%, if I go for the 720 instead. My rational for leaning towards the 730 is that its more powerful, more power efficient, and less out-of-date, so perhaps that corresponds to a longer life-span? Its hard to find data on life-span, but the longer the better. I don't want to be in a situation where I'm fire-fighting hardware failures, forcing me to put time, energy, and $$ into replacement hardware, or even doing another full upgrade.SwitchMikrotik CSS326-24G-2S+RM 24 port Gigabit Ethernet switch with two SFP+ portsNot much to say here, I'll get a bunch of SFP+ ports at the router level so this seems like a good priced switch with many 1gbe ports and some POE support as well.UPSTripp Lite SMART1500LCD 1500VASeems like the most popular unit on this sub, though many reviews complain about the noise..Rack8U 19" Open Frame Server RackThis is a placeholder for now. I want to keep the budget sane overall, so if I need to go with an open rack so be it. But this rack will probably be visible in a main area, so I'd prefer something nicer looking than an open rack.Micro PC & DesktopSince I'm coming from a monolith, I have a lot of parts I can recycle into new builds. The desktop is straight forward, will be the only other device on the network with a 10gbe card. The micro-pc is my take on a dell optiplex - I'm going to repurpose my mobo/cpu/ram combo and unraid license to run this machine. In conclusionDoes this build make sense? will it work? am I making any obvious blunders, or missing an opportunity to trim the budget? All feedback is appreciated.
