If you’re alright with a bit of dishonesty, this is a great way to get what you want; as long as you appear genuine, getting a job, networking, and keeping acquaintances is a lot easier. This is especially useful during interviews and written applications. Before I started doing this, I lost a $50,000 scholarship to a peer who was objectively less qualified than I am. Im confident that it’s because I answered the interviewers’ questions completely honestly, instead of just giving them what they wanted.During the written application and interview for my current job, I lied about my beliefs, my intentions, and why I wanted the position. Never mind the fact that I only applied because the job would save me about 10K a year, I gave them exactly what they were looking for. I was later by someone in recruitment that my application/interview was scored at a 98%.I’m not saying anyone should lie about their credentials, that goes too far, and you lose plausible deniability. But when someone asks you a question, ask yourself “why are they asking me this, and what response are they looking for?”
