I plan to use the GigaHub just as a fast internet gateway while using another device on the LAN to provide DHCP (and other stuff such as a VPN server). To do this I need to change the GigaHub LAN IP address from the factory 192.168.2.1 to 192.168.1.3 and disable the GigaHub's DHCP server. Should be easy but the GigaHub configuration pages only let you change the LAN IP address in one place... on the DHCP settings screen.The issue is that when you disable the DHCP server on this page you also block the ability to set the "Router IP address". There is a bright yellow warning on the page which says " Warning: If you enter incorrect settings, you will lose all network connectivity." While this is true, it seems rather alarmist if all you want to do is disable the DHCP server. Even if you can't get an IP for a connected device from the GigaHub if you turn DHCP off, you should still be able to set the static IP for your device on the same subnet (192.168.1.0/24 in my case) and talk to the GigaHub. I changed the GigaHub IP to 192.168.1.0 without disabling DHCP and now when I connect to it I correctly get assigned an IP on the 192.168.1.0/24 subnet, but now I need to turn off the DHCP server so my other device on the LAN can dole out addresses instead. What worries me though is since they seem to lump the LAN IP address and the DHCP server into a single configuration option you can shut off with a switch, if I disable DHCP is the GigaHub going to keep the IP address which was set before DHCP was turned off? If, for instance, when you turn off DHCP the GigaHub reverts the IP address to the factory default of 192.168.2.1, or even something else, I could have trouble ever connecting to it again without a pushed reset from Bell tech support.So has anybody turned off DHCP on their GigaHub 4000? If so, did it retain the previously set LAN IP address?Thanks.
