Introduction:We are a temperate rainforest with primarily deciduous trees. We were zone 6 and with climate-shift are now zone 7.Our forest is primarily Scarlet Oak, White Oak, Shagbark Hickory, Sugar maple, Red maple, American Beech. Occasionally Eastern Redcedar, Juniper, Yellow Buckeye, Paw Paw, Tulip Trees, sourwood, hornbeam, yellow buckeye, coralberry, Persian Silk Tree (not inclined to keep, should we?)Below the canopy we have Blueridge Blueberries (in ABUNDANCE!), Blackhaw, eastern redbud, coralberry, and a very alive mycelial network. We plan to take out a majority of the young beech trees, as they dominant the lower canopy at the moment.Any and all advice on how to maximize the existing, native food (both for humans and wildlife) would be greatly appreciated!! I'll be around in the comments to answer any questions for potentially in-depth advice. :)
