EnGenius - trying to understand new models of old models?

Hoping someone here can help me with this...I'm totally lost.I've presently got several EnGenius EWS377AP (the original ones) access points on an EWS7928P switch for the controller. I don't want any "cloud" junk, I want to keep all my management isolated to within the house offline, but I do like the central portal for finding which APs a device is on and doing site-surveys.I'm pondering some upgrades including an additional AP to fill in weak coverage in one area of the house as well as replacing my aging switch with a multi-gigabit capable switch and separate AP controller like the FITCON 100. I think I want to find a way to split off the WiFi AP management from the switches so I eliminate vendor-lock between any parts of my network (router is pfSense, switches and APs are EnGenius)It looks like the EWS377AP is discontinued, replaced with an EWS377AP-FIT instead.I can't find any official information if these new "FIT" APs are compatible with the older controllers nor if the older EWS377AP is compatible with the "FIT" on-prem controller. Some places I've looked at seem to say I would need to buy a "cloud license" for the old ones (what?) or trash the EWS377's and replace them all with new EWS377AP-"FIT" models or they won't work together, others claim they are interchangeable. Can anyone shed light on this?Does anyone have both older and newer models and can confirm what is compatible with which controllers?
