Hi all! I’ve recently come back to Linux after being away since 2014. I now dual-boot Linux Mint and Windows (on separate drives), and use a MacBook Pro for video editing.Windows is only for games that doesn’t work on Linux due to anti-cheat. I plan to fully drop it if there are better options on Linux for playing any game, old or new.Right now, I’m trying to figure out the best way to manage storage across these platforms, both in my desktop and on a network/NAS for all the Operating Systems to use. I simply want the ability to access my photos and footage from all my systems.My questions:What’s the best file system for the other drives in my computer?NTFS seems to be the best option but I've heard could have some issues with Linux?exFAT has been mentioned as great for all three operating systems in a network but more prone to corruptionIs it better to just move to a NAS?If I go the NAS route, I’m considering:A Mac Mini (M4) that I already own made into a server with a drive enclosure holding HDDsBuying Raspberry Pi 5 and making it into a serverMy goal is to keep Linux as my main OS, use Windows only when necessary (games), and stick with macOS for editing. Hello!I'm not sure what's going on exactly but about a month ago I installed GeForce Now on my Steam Deck using the instructions on NVIDIA's own site to play Alan Wake 2. Everything was great for a couple of weeks; I was blown away and subbed to Ultimate immediately.I'm not sure what changed but I'm now getting a massive input delay. It's strange because it doesn't necessarily seem to be a network issue; the game still looks incredible and there is no pixelation or network issue indicators anywhere, it just takes between 1 and 2 seconds for my inputs to register (push up, wait a second, then my diablo characters moves up, etc). For comparison, if I attach my backbone controller to my iPhone and play it works perfectly. This issue is only happening on my Steam Deck and I'm not really sure what to do about it. I keep just ending up playing on my phone, but the Deck is better suited and I'd prefer to use it.Has anyone seen this before or have any solutions? Thank you!

I turned 30 recently and live in the UK. The last year or so I've wanted to move to Australia or continental Europe (keeping my mind open but I like Germany and The Netherlands the most). The dream scenario would be to spend 2-3 years in Australia and then move to continental Europe.I'm working on my Irish citizenship so freedom of movement would again be a possibility in Europe if this goes through (thanks Brexit), but there still feels like a lot to consider here. I'd like to continue in my career - I'm a senior analyst and work within the financial sector, and want to keep saving to eventually put a deposit down on a home and settle eventually too.I just feel like I want to see what life is like living out of the UK before making any commitments with housing and settling down.I'd require sponsorship for Australia, which is hard admittedly, but will be spending some time networking out there this summer which may open some doors. Has anyone been in a similar position in age and just gone for it? Regardless of career and keeping an eye on the future? I feel the more I hold back, the less likely I am to make a change and I don't think I'd be truly happy if I stayed and didn't explore at least one of the countries I mentioned at the start of this post.

The title should be quite self explanatory: I'm looking for ways to keep my quirks to a minimum so I can give myself a chance of trying to establish networks (including social) and having one last stab at getting some better paid work which also makes use of my skills. And I can't do any of this while my neurodivergence gets in the way a jeopardises my ambitions.I cannot for the life of me find any literature on how to navigate life with autism and/or ADHD without running into the "masking is bad, you'll burn out, unmask and everything will be fine" spiel over and over again.I've spent years being frustrated because the information, as mentioned above, doesn't seem to exist. Is there anyone out there who can direct me to some decent books or something on the matter?Your help would be absolutely priceless. I'm tearing my hair out.

The Alcatel MW43TM has a USB port and. USB-c port. Can a usb to Ethernet or a usb-c to Ethernet dongle be added to the device so that it can then be hooked up to a “master” Eero device (air-linked to other eeros) to provide a whole house WiFi network? Seems like a cheap way at $10/month (for autopay) to monitor my cameras while gone for the season. 30Gb/mo should be plenty of data for my needs. I would use the other port to keep the Alcatel powered up.

I have been running on internal drives and using the odd external drive for backups . But I need more space for movies etc, mostly to use as a plex server, which can be on the whole time.The trouble is I need to do it on the cheap for now. I bought a second hand good condition orico 5-bay metabox pro, thinking this would solve all my problems.I plugged in some old 2TB NTFS formatted drives from an old computer and quickly found out I can't see my data on them (some of which I want to keep) and the orico wants to format all the drives in there to RAID.Now I can probably manage to get my data off them and format them if needed, BUT I want to be able to upgrade this with bigger drives when I can afford it. I've never really used RAID before so correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is you have to format all drives to RAID and then can't add any more without formatting everything again?If this is correct, I don't want to use RAID. I don't want to use oricos stupid software. I just want to use these as drives on the network that I can add or remove at my leisure.Is this possible using the orico metabox pro? Can I install OMV (or alternative?) on it to use it as a JBOD. If I do this, can I then use and access NTFS formatted drives in it (and keep my original data) ... OR do I still need to format everything in there first?

My cycle is pretty much over :). Thank you for all the discussions, support and advice. I learned so much and I really am grateful for the community. In the end, my cycle wasn’t the best but I’m giving myself grace—I think for a first-gen law student doing apps with no guidance in the first 6 months…I did ok 🥹R: Harvard, UPenn, NU, GW, Umich WL: Temple (withdrawn), UMD (UMD alum, so not surprised tbh), GULC(preferred waitlist! Kinda excited about this one) A: Ubalt ($$) Dean’s Merit Scholarship! Pending: Howard law I also withdrew from UVA. Overall, I’m happy with my preferred waitlist from GULC, I plan to deposit at UB to keep the scholarship just in case nothing else changes. I could be bummed about the cycle, but I’m grateful to say that I’m gonna be a lawyer! It only takes one A, and transferring is an option! I feel like a higher LSAT would’ve made the difference for me, but I’m just not taking that test again😭 Big law isn’t my calling, and the DMV is great for what I want to do. It’s my home and I’m more than happy staying. Again big thanks to everyone! My personal takeaways from the cycle: If you’re prepping for next year, APPLY EARLY. Study for the LSAT for much longer than you think you need. Take breaks, stay healthy and hydrated. I think all of these factors affected my outcomes. try to network before law school!! I got several recommendations for GULC just by talking to ppl and being friendly—I think that played a small part in being preferred waitlisted, despite being below both medians. (Ik ppl will say its being URM, but I’m also a first-gen, came from low socioeconomic status, survived dv in childhood and abuse in adulthood. 3 years of WE and multiple awards and honors, so if you bring it to me being URM…idk ig so 😭) Spivey and 7 sage were the best resources for me personally besides this sub. I’m going to follow their advice for riding out the GULC waitlist. See you all on the other side! We’re all going to be lawyers one day!! ❤️❤️
