Hi there. I’m looking to upgrade my current network from the stock Telus Optik hardware to some 3rd party hardware to get a more stable wi-fi connection throughout the house and be able to handle a bunch of devices at once 25+.The house I moved into only has COAX cable outlets to use and no ethernet outlets. So that’s why I am using MOCA devices in the family room and in my office to get a ethernet connection. (See attached image of my layout)I did purchase a TP-Link Deco x20 mesh system about a month ago and did these steps:Switched the Telus T3200M modem/router into bridge mode and disabled the wifi (Note: I still need to keep the Telus modem/router as at least a modem for the TVs to work)Hooked up the main mesh device to port 1 of the Telus modem in the garage close to the laundry room with a long ethernet cableHooked up the other 2 mesh devices directly to the MOCA device in the family room and office hoping I would get ethernet backhaul which didn’t happen. They were stuck communicating through wifiWith this setup, the wifi would randomly disconnect. The 3rd mesh device in the office refused to work if I plugged it into the MOCA device. The 2nd device in the family room was fine being plugged into MOCA. I also had issues getting Google home devices and Chromecast devices to connect and have decent speed.Does anyone know what I possibly did wrong with this setup or have any recommendations on what routers/mesh devices/other hardware I should use and where to set them all up in my house? One option I have for in the future is converting all the phone outlets to ethernet since it looks like they use Cat5e for the lines. At least for now I am hoping MOCA devices can accomplish my goal. https://ift.tt/SQlfIAv
