Missing text messages

I have a grandfathrred t mobile plan on a samsung note 10 x. I keep missing text messages. Has anyone else had this problem? Its to the point I need to switch plans. Im wondering if its a known phone problem or a network problem. Im located in atlanta. Not sure where I would switch to though.
