I've had Comcast at this house for ~15 years. I get "why" new customers get better monthly deals but it still irritates me that loyal subscribers pay more.As a cost-cutting measure I'm considering trialing TMHI which would effectively cost half as much for internet if I decide to keep it but I do have some questions that I'm uncertain about.First the deets with what I already have:Comcast:Internet: ~$96 total (~800/20Mbps)Billed on 15th of each month.T-Mobile:Just 2 lines - Essentials 55+ ~$60 totalBilled on 12th of each month. Both Samsung Galaxy S23 phones connect at 5G UC.Mobile Data On/Wifi Off. Ookla Speed Test from phone: 700/30Mbps through T-Mobile network.I live in a suburban area in Tucson, AZ but no idea where the towers are but they're seemingly relatively close.1: If I go to a T-Mobile store and pick up the modem to trial is there a choice of modem brand or model?2: Do the modems allow for modifying/disabling DHCP/DNS in order to keep a firewall and Pi-Hole going without double NATing?3: Can the modems be put in full bridge mode?4: I think I read that there's a $35+tax fee due the moment you start your trial (like getting it from the store). If I choose not to keep TMHI before trial expiration, will that $35 be refunded and if so, how and when?5: If I sign up for the trial and pick up the modem tomorrow (5/23) and inform T-Mobile that I'll keep it before the 15 day trial period is up will the $50 TMHI subscription be present on my next bill that's due on 6/12 (but prorated because I hadn't had it a full month?)6: I appreciate that the speedtest I mentioned above that I ran from my phone doesn't mean I'd be seeing the same through TMHI because of phones having priority and all that but is it at least a hopeful metric?7: Is there a legit and trustworthy Android app I can get that can tell me tower specifics that my phone is using at this particular location that could further give an indication of what kind of speeds I might get on TMHI?I'm sure there are other questions that I'm forgetting to ask but as I said I see no reason to pay twice as much for internet if I can avoid it.I'm fully aware of the pros and cons with respect to wired and wireless.I'd like to trial TMHI as soon as possible so I can make a decision before the end of this month. (I never remember if Comcast bills you for service you've used for the prior month or you're paying for the next one coming, but whatever). Thanks everyone.
