I am in St. Louis and have a grandmothered BCBS Blue Choice Access PPO plan and have never really had any issues with BCBS. However, the premiums have reached a point where I am thinking of switching to a marketplace plan, either UHC or BCBS pathway, both EPOs. I have spent 2 months learning all the ins and outs of insurance and calling to verify network status but am wondering if anyone with experience with these two companies in MO specifically can answer my remaining questions:Is one of these better than the other in terms of claims processing, denials, networks, etc.? Any insight is much appreciated. If my dermatologist’s office is listed in network but she is not listed at all, will she be covered? (Her billing office doesn’t know smh)Is the blue access network significantly different than the aca pathway? That don’t seem all that different but what do I know. Any billers/med professionals that can tell me which they prefer to work with?If OON mental health coverage is listed as “charged as in network” on the SBC, does that mean I can submit my own claims and get some money back?I have never used out of network coverage and the deductible is so high, I wouldn’t anyway, but if the blue access choice network is worth the outrageous cost, I may just keep it. Appreciate any info anyone has.
