First of all, I know this is a fucked up thing to do and shows I might not trust her. But things have been rocky, and I didnt know what to do.A little backstory;We're both 22 years old. We met on a chatting site, exhanged info, and started talking. We've been in a proper relationship for a while now, we celebrated our 2 year anniversary in October.We have mainly texted. She has been too shy to actually talk to each other. We have talked, but I can count the words I've heard her say on one hand.We have however exhanged a lot of photos, and everything about her seemed consistent.We were supposed to meet last year in May. I booked a flight, we had it planned. She chickened out for a personal, and somewhat valid reasons. I won't share these reasons. It still broke me ofcourse. I decided to keep the relationship going, because she is the love of my life.Things have been rocky since then, with some good moments in between. I could tell she's trying, and I want to stick by her.Then lately I just snapped. I felt like she didn't care about my needs, and old memories from when I took a flight there popped up.I hired a private investigating firm in her area. I didn't want to actually get her followed, since that's an uncomfortable thought. I did an ''identity check'', in which they put her info into a PI network or something, to find out if she is who she says she is. I gave them basic info like name, DOB, location, phone number.The PI's came back with the following info:Our investigators assess that the subject you are talking to is not who they claim to be. We advise you to be careful. There is no one in the United States that matches any of the given data. They could be a catfish situation or a romance scam. If you have given any money to this subject, please contact your local law enforcement. Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you. They attached a file with their info in the system, saying ''No results found''.She has never asked for money. She has given me games as gifts, in game currency on a game I love. Which I have also done for her ofcourse, so this doesn't lead me to believe she is catfishing me for money.I don't know how trustworthy a PI is for this basic investigation. The firm seemed trustworthy, but I have 0 experience with private investigators.I also don't know how to confront her about this, if I choose to believe this. This is a fucked up thing to do, but I was at the end of my ropes. If I do bring this up, breaking up would be a very understandable reaction.I have been more distant to her. She's been more distant to me. I've been losing my shit lately. We're growing apart, and it hurts.I am sorry for being a bummer, but I would love some advice. Or thought on any of this. Or anything at all to keep my sanity to be honest. I don't talk about this stuff with friends or family.
