What is Considered as an IoT Device?

full image - Repost: What is Considered as an IoT Device? (from Reddit.com, What is Considered as an IoT Device?)
I’m configuring a separate vLAN for some of my IoT devices and in thinking about which devices to segment, I was wondering what is actually consider IoT. I know I have several Wi-Fi plugs and switches that will obviously get included but do I include the Nest thermostat as well? What about the Internet radio speaker in my office and my wireless sprinkler controller and the garage door opener? Will I just have devices that are on the 2.4 GHz channel and WPA2 on their separate vLAN? As you can see, I’ve gone down quite the rabbit hole and at this rate, only laptops, cell phones, and tablets will have full network access. I know the goal is to keep those devices that don’t get regular updates away from sensitive areas in the network but some of my Internet devices do get updated occasionally. How are you guys configured?
