I just got rejected from a job I really wanted. I've been looking for a new gig for some time now (currently employed full time and hate it), without a lot of luck. I finally got this interview after reaching out to a few contacts and truly thought I had a strong chance of getting an offer. They fast-tracked my application and flew me across the country to interview in-person and I thought it went well (or, as well as an interview can go). I had a great reference from someone close to the company, more experience than they were looking for, and could do everything they were asking of this new hire...and then some.Needless to say, receiving the email that they went with another candidate felt like a total gut punch. I cried for two hours.Nearly all of the people that I interviewed with have reached out - unprompted - to send positive feedback and expressed a desire to keep in touch, pass my resume along, and assist in my job search. Nice gesture and much appreciated, as I usually just get a generic rejection or am ghosted completely.While I'm a pretty extroverted person, I really hate networking. Asking other people for help when I can offer nothing in return seems really one-sided and is challenging for me. Any one have any tips on how to leverage these offers to keep in touch and assist without taking advantage/annoying them/blowing my chances of any future opportunities? Has anyone successfully networked with a person and/or company after getting rejected from a job they interviewed for?Thanks for reading. Any advice, tips, or even positive vibes help!
