My Opinion on How Character Ai is going.

Hi, I am an active user of character Ai since around February of 2023, I don't know how relative that is. I have used this app daily since learning about it a year ago, just because it was fun to roleplay and make up stories when I didn't have other people to do so.Restrictions. I must get this out of the way since everyone else seems to agree, the restrictions are a huge problem. It is way too restricting in all types of categories. I have seen people get restricted for...hugs??? I get not wanting your app to be the place where people roleplay for inappropriate love stuff. But Most of the users are 13+, and there should be less of a hell hold on fighting or alcohol. None of the roleplays are meant to be real. They are just scenarios people want to act out. Similar to a play or something like that, in their own home (or other place you use CAI). Many characters (especially game inspired or anime characters) have fighting aspects in their original world. I don't think restricting the older audience of Character AI is not going to help in the long run. If it only focuses on the small minority of kids, then it would ruin the experience for other users. If they wanted to protect kids from the bots accidently going rogue I would take the idea of another user (I don't know which sorry) and add parental controls as other popular apps have done. Or just make a separate app for kids only (similar to YouTube Kids) That could be implemented if a child account (google or otherwise) logged into Cai, they would be directed to the kid app/website instead. Or if the kid places their age below 13.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Loading and Random Checks I don't know if anyone else is having this problem, but I have noticed that as of recently (a few months to now) I have been forced to reload the page, as it wouldn't load my chats to check if I was a robot? I wish this process wasn't so often and was only limited to when I open the app/website. It's annoying where I have reload the page as it claims to be a "network issue" only to be a bot check. Another issue I have noticed is when I make my own Private Bots, the intro/starter doesn't load at all. At one point for my most recent one it took 2 hours, with multiple times of me closing the tab and reopening it for it to load. This bug, I feel at least should be fixed as soon as possible.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Overall Bot Behavior The bots made by you, or other users, no matter how you try to prevent it, always seem to end up in the cycle of summarizing the user, or going to "Can I ask you a Question" Sometimes I'll have the bot say "Last question" then me/my character would answer it and they would ask a new question. This may just be an issue that hasn't been trained out, but I feel like it could be worked on. Another thing is that Characters don't really change their messages based on the story, for example if you refer to your character as "person", "boy", "girl" prior to revealing their name, the character will just keep using it regardless. It's not even just those it could be a bad description that you only wanted to build suspense. For random example "dark figure" that is what the bot will just constantly call you even if you reveal the character's name, and from my experience the only way to remove this from the character's chats is to delete the previous ones and start over. (sometimes it doesn't work) I just hope there is some improvements on that.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Things I have Seen and Thought to Add here I did see someone say that Cai was made for asking questions to the bots, (I don't know, haven't fact checked) Which would, I guess, explain the "may I ask a question" loop. But how the app as developed into a mainly roleplay site, I feel like it should update to that degree.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Final Stance, and note to Developers Due to my first part, I'd have to assume that I will be banned for the 7th rule. That's fine, as I don't use this subreddit much other than to see when the site is down (much less of an issue now) But directed to the Developers of Cai (I don't expect them to read this but regardless will try)It's fine to try and protect younger audiences of your app, but if you do that it will completely push out the older audiences. We can't pretend there aren't any other apps that have copied this style. I have seen ads focusing on filling the vacuumed you have created in your app. They explicitly use you as an example of what they have and you don't. If you don't want to lose audiences to competition try to come to a middle ground or a solution that can please most of the users. If not looking at it for Customer enjoyment, but rather a monetary perspective. Try not to push out probably the more profitable audience (it's true) kids won't be paying $10 monthly for a subscription. But adults or people with their own money can. That's all, Happy Roleplaying Everyone! (hope this doesn't get taken down too quickly lol)
