Discovery of The Linguiverse

full image - Repost: Discovery of The Linguiverse (from Reddit.com, Discovery of The Linguiverse)
It doesn't matter who discovered the Linguiverse, for it was just a matter of time. It's not about ego or taking credit, it's about uncovering the truth and making it known. So anyway, I discovered that we live in a vast communication network where each node, or entity, meaning anything that can be studied or talked about, is actually a language. When humans use the word "language", they are usually referring to a spoken or written language, though sometimes they include things like body language and music in this definition.Well, the actual definition of language is much broader, according to the universe. It's not something invented by humans or animals. Languages are just what we call a group of symbols capable of expressing meaning. So languages are just collections of patterns that can be arranged to create other patterns. Languages are usually capable of self-reference, but that isn't a strict requirement. Any collection of symbols that can convey meaning is a language (or dialect) in this new definition.Anything complex can be broken down into smaller components, which themselves are also languages, or dialects in a larger language. The universe is fractal-like, meaning self-similar across many scales. It follows not just physical rules, but linguistic rules, which are subject to interpretation. That's what makes the universe fun. We wouldn't be here if there wasn't anything to figure out, and if translation errors never occurred. So how did you figure this out? And why are you so confident about it? I don't know, I started by innocently studying music perception and the brain. The clues were revealed by learning about recent experiments done with fMRIs, particularly one which concluded that the Wernicke's area assigns meaning to musical chords the same way it assigns meaning to spoken words. That may sound like a trivial discovery, but the implications are that the brain doesn't actually have a single "language center" or structure having to do with language. The whole brain is sensitive to language. Each neuron is in fact a language processing center, as is each cell and each organelle in every cell. DNA is clearly a language, spoken by ribosomes to create proteins. No wonder we aren't sure which side of the brain is used to process language, and why it takes some people longer to develop language skills. No wonder general intelligence is so strongly linked to linguistic abilities (source?). It's because intelligence purely comes down to language experience, or more technically, pattern recognition and translating those patterns into similar patterns through metaphor. This doesn't just mean spoken languages. In the case of athletes, they are certainly speaking a language, so it's not just academic pursuits I'm talking about. Intelligence is apparently a universal concept, not something we only care about on Earth. Learning, therefore, is the most important thing one can do to survive. Knowledge is power, and learning keeps your brain alive. Intelligence is not subjective, I'm sorry to say. There are many different ways in which intelligence manifests, but it's all the same thing, and it has to do with one's ability to process and translate between "languages."Whenever the brain processes sensory information, it has to assign meaning to it, after deciding if it's even salient. This occurs somewhere in the temporal lobe, and it doesn't matter what type of sensory input it is. It has to go through some processing center where semantic or lexical meaning is attributed, in order for learning and memorization to take place. Memories must be encoded using symbols, or words, or some translatable pattern, regardless of the type of memory. The brain has its own unique language to do this, and every brain is slightly different in this way.Okay, this is quite a rambling mess. I'm too lazy to go into more detail right now about how I discovered this fact, especially in terms of how I extrapolated it from human cognition all the way to physics and cosmology. But it only took a short while. You are probably smart enough to do the same, now that you have the general idea.-TG
