Howdy - thanks for reading and so you know I’ve never ask Reddit for help on a real matter before because Google is free. I have also worked with lawyers [through business] for 25 years, but they do not practice in New York. Any advice welcome.I have a dear friend who was screwed over by a company, and following that have been [allegedly, law to prove] undermining her brand [she is a public figure], using their network to trash her reputation. When she started the legal process, she worked with a referred firm in a different state, and for various reasons are terminated. I am super-keen to help her from the beginning this time, as she was screwed over with the last one. But she also had no legal experience, and after selection I would also like to help her understand the advice and steps that firms suggest.I am not a spouse [and married], and she is suing as her professional name as that is who the contract was with. I have looked on Google about how a friend / support can be included in privilege, so that I can be part of the process. I do not want any rights to make decisions on her behalf, but I want to be able to advise her each step of the way before she makes the decision for herself. She is in agreement naturally, but I do not know the legal description for such privilege in New York- and Google keeps reverting me friend-who-is-an attorney / spousal / business, none of which apply. There must be some formal for people like me who want to help their affected friends? Any pointers / links appreciated. Thank you.
