Honestly, SGI has no standing to tell ANYONE how to run ANYTHING better. "The dignity of human life" - when SGI members and especially leaders routinely violate the boundaries of everyone around them - what an indignity! When SGI leaders gossip the members' problems and situations around to anyone who will listen? Where's ANYTHING functionally democratic within SGI??Having a well-trained membership that knows not to voice dissent is not the same as having a valid democratic process in place! SourceSince SGI is its own self-contained (and VERY wealthy) organization, it can have any rules it wants - right? Yet it HASN'T implemented ANYTHING that prioritizes the SGI members' "dignity of human life". That's SAYING something! If you haven't looked at their "Charter" lately (and it changes ALL the time - you can compare to this 1st version) - Charter of the Soka Gakkai InternationalPreambleWe, the constituent organizations and members of the Soka Gakkai International (hereinafter called SGI), embrace the fundamental aim and mission of contributing to peace, culture and education based on the philosophy and ideals of the Buddhism of Nichiren Daishonin. We recognize that at no other time in history has humankind experienced such an intense juxtaposition of war and peace, discrimination and equality, poverty and abundance as in the twentieth century; that the development of increasingly sophisticated military technology, exemplified by nuclear weapons, has created a situation where the very survival of the human species hangs in the balance; that the reality of violent ethnic and religious discrimination presents an unending cycle of conflict; that humanity's egoism and intemperance have engendered global problems, including degradation of the natural environment and widening economic chasms between developed and developing nations, with serious repercussions for humankind's collective future. We believe that Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism, a humanistic philosophy of infinite respect for the sanctity of life and all-encompassing compassion, enables individuals to cultivate and bring forth their inherent wisdom and, nurturing the creativity of the human spirit, to surmount the difficulties and crises facing humankind and realize a society of peaceful and prosperous coexistence. We, the constituent organizations and members of SGI, therefore, being determined to raise high the banner of world citizenship, the spirit of tolerance, and respect for human rights based on the humanistic spirit of Buddhism, and to challenge the global issues that face humankind through dialogue and practical efforts based on a steadfast commitment to nonviolence, hereby adopt this Charter, affirming the following purposes and principles:Purposes and PrinciplesSGI shall contribute to peace, culture and education for the happiness and welfare of all humanity based on the Buddhist respect for the sanctity of life.SGI, based on the ideal of world citizenship, shall safeguard fundamental human rights and not discriminate against any individual on any grounds.SGI shall respect and protect the freedom of religion and religious expression.SGI shall promote an understanding of Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism through grass-roots exchange, thereby contributing to individual happiness.SGI shall, through its constituent organizations, encourage its members to contribute toward the prosperity of their respective societies as good citizens.SGI shall respect the independence and autonomy of its constituent organizations in accordance with the conditions prevailing in each country.SGI shall, based on the Buddhist spirit of tolerance, respect other religions, engage in dialogue and work together with them toward the resolution of fundamental issues concerning humanity.SGI shall respect cultural diversity and promote cultural exchange, thereby creating an international society of mutual understanding and harmony.SGI shall promote, based on the Buddhist ideal of symbiosis, the protection of nature and environment.SGI shall contribute to the promotion of education, in the pursuit of truth as well as development of scholarship, to enable all people to cultivate their characters and enjoy fulfilling and happy lives. That was initially ALL of it!Now look at the bloated abomination that the SGI Charter is now - bask in the glory of all the red flags SGI-USA added:Article 52Nothing in this section confers a right, legal or otherwise, for anyone to be a member of SGI-USA.That's after PAGES about the rights and jurisdiction of the highest echelons of SGI-USA's administration. YOU, as a member, have NO RIGHTS.Article 54By becoming a member of SGI-USA, an individual agrees to sincerely practice Nichiren Buddhism; follow the guidance of the Soka Gakkai International; and observe the rules and regulations established by SGI-USA.Obviously, every SGI-USA member must OBEY.CHAPTER 9: Voluntary Termination of MembershipArticle 57Voluntary Termination—any individual may submit a notification of termination of membership in writing. Termination of membership shall be effective upon receipt of the notification by the organization.DO THIS NOW!!!Article 58An individual whose membership has been voluntarily terminated shall have their name removed from SGI-USA membership lists and will be excluded from any and all activities of SGI-USA, wherever conducted. The person’s subscription to SGI-USA publications will be canceled, and any financial contributions from the person will not be accepted. Requests for reinstatement of membership shall be reviewed by the Zone Personnel Committee.CHAPTER 10: Involuntary Termination of Membership and Other Disciplinary ActionArticle 59Involuntary Termination—a member may be involuntarily terminated from SGI-USA membership due to serious misconduct, as outlined in this section.Article 60SGI-USA exists to enable all members to correctly learn and practice Nichiren Buddhism and apply it in their daily lives for spiritual growth and fulfillment....and so everyone can SERVE AND ENRICH SGI-USA!Article 61Conduct which violates this pure intent may result in disciplinary action up to and including involuntary termination of membership. Specific examples of conduct subject to discipline include, but are not limited to:Taking advantage of other members for a financial purpose, including borrowing or lending money or personal fundraising;Promoting, soliciting or advertising personal business interests, products or services to members, including network marketing or health-related products or services;Promoting other religions, spiritual practices, psychic readings, or self-awareness/personal development courses;Promoting political activities;Conduct intended to either 1) damage the reputation of SGI-USA, 2) harm or undermine the interests of SGI-USA, or 3) disturb the faith and practice of members;WATCH YOUR MOUTH!Conduct which is disruptive to the harmonious unity of SGI-USA, including spreading false or disparaging information about the organization, its leaders or members, and/or failing to correct misunderstanding among the membership caused by such conduct; Is there no other way to create "harmonious unity" than by instilling into the minds of the members the idea they had better keep their traps shut, lest their words send them into the hell of incessant suffering...? SourcePhysical or verbal abuse and/or harassment; andSexual misconduct.Notice how VAGUE everything is. You as an SGI member can be basically convicted of absolutely ANYTHING, because the only perspective/definition that MATTERS is that of the executive-SGI-leadership Inquisition that will judge you and sentence you - and nothing you can do about it!Article 62The purpose of disciplinary proceedings is to encourage sincere self-reflection on the part of the member in question and to preserve the sincere faith of members and the harmonious unity of SGI-USA.Article 63For misconduct in the local organization (District, Chapter, and Region), the Region Personnel Committee is responsible for addressing the misconduct by assigning two or more Region-level leaders to investigate matters related to the conduct in question. Any leader with a potential conflict of interest or potential bias regarding the person or conduct in question must recuse themselves from the investigation and decision-making. The investigating leaders should jointly accomplish the following:Interview the member under investigation as well as other affected individuals, gather supporting documentation and evaluate the situation overall. During the investigation, the Region Personnel Committee may instruct the member to refrain from participating in organizational activities until the investigation is complete.Report findings to the Region Personnel Committee and submit a written report of the results and conclusion of its investigation, including the Region Personnel Committee’s decision as to what action should be taken, to the Zone Personnel Committee. In addition to involuntary termination, the Zone Personnel Committee has the discretion to consider the following lesser measures:Written reprimandExclusion from specific SGI-USA activitiesProhibition against attending conferences at FNCCOh, hurt me, daddy 🙄Exclusion from attending activities at SGI-USA CentersExclusion from attending local organizational activitiesSuspension of SGI-USA membership, as defined below100% BIASED AGAINST THE SGI MEMBERSHIP, you'll notice.Suspension of Membership. Membership may be suspended for a specific length of time, up to one year. During the suspension period, the member is excluded from any and all SGI-USA activities, wherever conducted. At the end of the suspension period and upon request by the suspended member to have the suspension removed, the Zone Personnel Committee shall review and decide whether to lift the suspension or continue it, based on a demonstrated change in attitude and behavior. If the suspension is not lifted, then the suspension will continue indefinitely until the suspended member requests reinstatement, at which time the Zone Personnel Committee shall review it again. The Exec level of SGI-USA leadership holds ALL the cards, pulls ALL the strings. The SGI-USA members have NO RIGHTS.Article 64The Region Personnel Committee may stop the investigation at any stage of the proceedings and immediately recommend disciplinary action if, in its judgment, the member in question is evasive, combative, uncooperative, or continuing to engage in misconduct. And the SGI MEMBER has no say in the matter AND no recourse!!Article 65A member has the right to submit a written request for an appeal of the Zone Personnel Committee’s decision to the Territory Personnel Committee.Sure! You can submit your written request; they reserve the right to toss it straight into the trash!!Article 66Unless the Territory Personnel Committee determines that further investigation or consideration is warranted, the decision shall be final. They are NOT going to take any member's side - because SGI is a completely broken system.Article 67Notice of disciplinary action shall be communicated to the affected organizational leaders and members as appropriate.Article 68For suspensions or terminations of membership, a copy of the notification to the individual and any supporting documentation should be forwarded to the National Organization Center to ensure that proper procedures were followed and that the appropriate restriction is entered on the person’s membership record.Article 69For misconduct affecting a larger scope (Zone, Territory or National), the investigation shall be conducted by a committee of at least two members selected by the General Director or the Executive Council (if the General Director is affected) from among leaders with experience in faith and have good character, judgment, and wisdom with no conflict of interest or bias. The committee shall report its findings and recommendations to the Territory Personnel Committee for a decision. Appeals shall be handled by the National Personnel Committee.BTW, SGI-USA routinely BREAKS these rules that provide for ANY accountability at all - however slight and inadequate - to the SGI membership. Remember, THEY control ALL the appeals - there is no unbiased third party to evaluate on the side of "justice" AND to protect/defend the SGI-USA MEMBERS' rights. Wouldn't it be INTERESTING if the SGI-USA members UNIONIZED???Article 70No termination of membership, for any reason, shall confer the right to demand the return or refund of any property, real or personal, cash or in-kind, previously donated to SGI-USA.Of COURSE not! We cut you off and you're SOL!!Article 71Any member whose membership has been involuntarily terminated shall have his or her name removed from SGI-USA membership lists and is excluded from any and all activities of SGI-USA, wherever conducted. The person’s subscription to SGI-USA publications will also be canceled, and the person will be prohibited from making financial contributions to SGI- USA.Oh, gee, like when they've excommunicated someone, that person is going to be weeping over their now-inability to THROW MORE OF THEIR HARD-EARNED MONEY AT THE RICH, SELFISH, AND GREEDY IKEDA CULT!! I'm surprised they didn't keep the door open to receive those people's money some more...Basically, almost HALF the SGI-USA's Charter is to itemize SGI's rights to PUNISH any SGI member who puts a TOE out of line - it's ALL about control.Because...
