I hope you all find the job you desire and find success!Tip 1/5: Being fast (<72 hours) is crucial and will increase your chances of getting hired by 4 timesMake sure to have the following ready:On top of online presenceAn adaptable and easy to use resumeMake a list of job titles and companiesSet up job alerts on LinkedInTip 2/5: Referrals work 5x better to land a jobUse networking in order to get job referrals - in the case you don’t know anyone at the company, following these principles when reaching out:Hitlist: create a hit list of companies to work forUnique: find a unique thing you have in commonStart: start engaging mentioning this unique common thingTailor: tailor a value proposition to the other personLead: lead up with next steps and have a call to actionEngage: be persistent and follow-upTip 3/5: It’s easier to know what company you don’t want to work for than the reverseSelecting the right company is extremely important, make sure to keep these three things in mind (I wish I did when I applied for my first roles!):Don’t be seduced by a brand name. Choose a size and environment that fits your profileNever sign at a company for what it is today. Try to figure out what it might be tomorrowJoining a pre-IPO company comes at a risk, but returns can be tremendousMake a full list first of potential companies and eliminate what you absolutely do not want - it’s easier than finding the ‘one company’ you want and keeps perspective openTip 4/5: Find a company size that fits your personal preference - our self-test can helpDifferent sizes come with different resources which need to be aligned to your needs - deciding on the right company size might be hard. I often saw people working at a corporation telling me ‘I want to work for a startup’, but do they really want this? It completely depends on your preference for a couple of attributes (see bottom)Tip 5/5 Ask these three questions after every job interview (regardless of the result)You only fail when you refuse to learn from a bad experience. Applying for jobs is a skill and skills can be learned and taught.
