So I want to stop wasting time on the internet but I have a few issues:I'm a computer science major and extremely tech savvy and can basically figure out bypasses for just about anything. Eg. I tried this https://ift.tt/kiAQUT4 and went on Windows for a bit. Before issue 2 kicked in I had documented the following:there's at least 3 services that are linked to techloqWindowsFilterServiceWindowsUpdateServiceTpsFiles for the first two are located in program files(x86)\techloq (yes they're still using x86 instead of x86_64 since they're cringe. 64 bit has been stardard for over a decade.). The third is installed to C:\Windows\System32. That is not remotely standard practice https://ift.tt/bqQkVRx. I remember reading years ago that some malware does that to try to avoid people finding and tampering with it. The name too is also indistinct and is used by other applications https://ift.tt/1o5QRIg https://ift.tt/FtZI0Hi https://ift.tt/KbeDIaG pretty sure TPS stands for Techloq Proxy Service. The registry contains information about all of these services/ In that key the reg_dword start is set to 2 https://ift.tt/nguF8Rd and is NOT_STOPPABLE and NOT_PAUSABLE. What stumped me for a bit was that even System and Administrator were unable to modify these values despite having full registry access. Then I realized when looking at which users had which priveleges that there were a few users with special priveleges with seemingly random names like user108. These users only had the special priveleges. The point of this is to prevent tampering. These users are disabled and cannot be logged into without using special command prompt wizardry. These users are then assigned special registry rights https://ift.tt/QT02LFw to these keys that even the System and Administrator do not have. The paths to startup files have to be hardcoded into the registry. This is, however, their weakness since if I use a live usb (boot the computer from a USB) to rename those files then those files cannot be found. I renamed all of them. Weirdly this resulted in the internet just not working. Not sure what caused that yet.TPS.exe is the main exe and is hidden from view. This is confirmed since when I tried launching tps.exe after renaming it back but not anything else I was presented with a firewall warning which I allowed but then the filter worked just fine. My working hypothesis is that WindowsUpdateService keeps the filter up to date. WindowsFilterService manages firewall stuff and maybe fetches definitions or something(?). I'm really not sure. I'm in the middle of reading a book on reverse engineering so I'll probably figure it out some day. tps is what connects it to the proxy. I'm pretty sure WindowsFilterService keeps the firewall messages from coming up for a normal user who'd probably be weirded out by it.Also got reminded of why I hate Windows. While I was doing this mucking around Windows decided that the pin for my account was "unavailable" and wouldn't let me sign in at all. I had to use a Linux Live USB to enable the secret adminstrator account to get into the computer. Kinda shocking to me how many people willingly sign up for these services with the stuff I sent you and the fact that these services perform a man in the middle attack to do their filtering (and they have to because of https) https://ift.tt/F3SvQDx (I installed it on a laptop with no personal info on it, for what it matters) I tend to lose enthusiasm for new projects quickly. This also applies to these. Since I can generally pretty easily undo them (worse come to worse I just call up the company and make up a reason to uninstall it) it's hard to stick to them. It's also just so easy to waste half my life away on the internet.I don't really have anyone to hold me accountable so issue 2 goes crazy.Depending on what exactly the filter does there's a pretty good chance it breaks encryption and performs man in the middle attacks to filter content (I know eg. Livigent does this). This kind of freaks me out.I doubt my parents would let me install anything in the router even if I wanted to.Most of the solutions are centered on Windows or Mac. I use Linux and really don't want to go to the Microsoft shit-universe that is Windows if I don't need to. I also got an Apple Silicon Mac and really hated it (besides the fact that I can bypass anything with a recovery mode that cannot be disabled, thanks Apple.)Anyone got any tips?
